Our Mission

The Recreation Wish List Committee’s primary mission is to improve the quality of public recreation in the District of Columbia and strengthen the ability of the District of Columbia’s Department of Parks and Recreation to achieve its mission of providing quality enrichment services to District children and teens during non-school hours, weekend and summer hours in safe, well-maintained facilities and parks. By enhancing youths’ access to recreation and sports, technology, and academic enrichment programs, we seek to: 

  • Improve the academic average of every child;
  • Increase understanding of technology and its role in today’s society;
  • Increase understanding of the role of sports in promoting teamwork and understanding; and
  • Provide recreation as an alternative to anti-social behavior.
