Southeast Tennis & Learning Center

The first of its kind in Washington and a prototype for the nation, the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (STLC) is an excellent example of how the private and public sectors can work together with local community groups to promote common interests for the benefit of current and future generations. The STLC represents a unique opportunity to encourage young people from the Washington Metropolitan Area to learn about the game of tennis in a nurturing environment. The STLC has serves as a catalyst for community rebirth.

The facility has partnerships that work. Corporations, the local government, and individuals have stepped up to the net to serve an ace for the children we serve. The project has been embraced by the community in which it is located, and by the tennis community as a whole.

By building on established school and community partnerships we expect participation in tennis tournaments by residents and teachers. The complex is surrounded by nine public schools within a one-mile radius.

Currently, almost 200 children from an existing tennis program use our courts. Members of the community have access to the facility during non-school hours, so their is greater participation in the lives of the youth by parents and guardians.
