SETLC Tennis Scholar Portrays Legendary Actress Cicely Tyson

Actress Cicely Tyson received a unique surprise at the opening of a new performing arts school named in her honor in East Orange, NJ. Among the many celebrities appearing in the gala -- including Oprah Winfrey, Soledad O'Brien and Terrence Howard -- SETLC tennis scholar Diamond captivated the audience with a special portrayal of Miss Tyson.

The gala's producer invited the RWLC to participate in the event and select an SETLC youth to portray Miss Tyson after learning about the SETLC's annual Blacks in Wax event. The portrayal highlighted Miss Tyson's philosophy of why art is vital to humanity. The RWLC enabled seven children to attend the event, as well as several adult chaperones.
